Things to know

The Hotel Nationalparkt is easily accessible by train and bus. There is an hourly express train from Vienna Central Station to Neusiedl, and from there a bus to Illmitz. The bus stop is 300 metres from the hotel. (For more information, visit oebb.at.) If you need assistance, we are happy to help and also offer a pick-up service with electric cars (for a fee).

NEW – FREE TRAVEL FROM VIENNA WITH THE BURGENLAND CARD FROM 1 MARCH 2026

Your room will be available from 2 p.m. on the day of arrival and must be vacated by 11 a.m. on the day of departure.

From your very first night's stay, you will automatically receive the free Burgenland Card – your ticket to numerous free services and discounts throughout Burgenland.

Environmentally friendly travel – exclusively for those arriving by train or bus: free public transport with the Burgenland Card: use buses and trains throughout Burgenland free of charge – sustainable, flexible and uncomplicated travel.

There is free parking around the hotel building. Some of these parking spaces will be covered from July 2026.

Free cancellation

  • Cancellation is free ofcharge up to 3 months prior to arrival.

Cancellation fees

  • 3 months to 1 month prior to arrival: 40% of the total price
  • 1 month to 1 week before arrival: 70% of the total price
  • Last week before arrival: 90% of the total price

Please note that in the event of cancellation or early departure, we will charge according to the cancellation conditions of the Austrian hotel industry as amended on 15 November 2006. For further information, please refer to our general terms and conditions.

You can pay us in cash, with an EC card, or with a credit card (Mastercard and Visa).
 

Please let us know when you make your reservation if you will be bringing a dog, as dogs are only allowed in selected room categories. Please note that only one dog per room is permitted.

We ask for your understanding that dogs are not allowed in the entire pool and wellness area, the hotel garden and sunbathing area, or in the breakfast area.

We reserve the right to charge a final cleaning fee of €100.00.

From Vienna Airport – Schwechat (VIE)
Distance: approx. 60 km to Lake Neusiedl National Park – Seewinkel

Car or taxi

  • Direct journey by rental car or taxi – approx. 40 minutes depending on traffic
  • Taxis are available at the airport, and many local providers offer comfortable direct transfers to your hotel.

Train & bus (public transport)

  • The journey takes about 2–2.5 hours by train and then bus: 
    • Train from Vienna Airport or Vienna Central Station to Neusiedl am See.
    • Continue by regional bus or taxi to the hotel.

Direct bus connections

  • There are bus lines (e.g., bus 273 and bus 290) that run from the airport via Neusiedl am See and on toward Seewinkel – total travel time approx. 2–2.5 hours

Other airports (options for international guests)

In addition to Vienna, the following airport alternatives are possible – albeit further away:

  • Bratislava Airport (BTS) – ~90–100 km (approx. 1.5–2 hours' drive)
  • Budapest Airport (BUD) – ~200 km (approx. 2.5–3 hours' drive)

The distance from Illmitz (Hotel Nationalpark) to Neusiedl am See railway station is approximately 25–26 km. By car, this takes around 20–30 minutes via the B51/Podersdorfer Straße road.

Barrier-free holidays at Steppensee

The Hotel Nationalpark is a barrier-free hotel – people with special needs will find relaxation and comfort here. All of our newly designed hotel areas, such as the spacious seminar area, our wellness oasis and, of course, our restaurant, are fully accessible by wheelchair, walking aid and pram. A wheelchair-accessible room provides people with disabilities with every conceivable comfort.

Kilometres of paths through the national park and around Lake Neusiedl offer wheelchair users many opportunities for interesting and relaxing voyages of discovery through the magnificent nature of the steppe lake and the wide plains of the Seewinkel.
